Choranche,
A small village in the magnificent scenery of the Bourne gorge.
South of Grenoble, in the Vercor mountain exists a vast gorge, many thousands of feet deep in places and many miles long, with a winding river that runs through dramatic and beautiful scenery into a wide and green valley. The climate is mild and the environment protects many wild flowers and 26 species of orchids.
Choranche village is set in stunning scenery, looking up on to vast high cliffs and high Alpine pastures, with many activities available from the village.

Walking :
With many thousands of kilometres of paths available in guidebooks (Grand Travers des Alpes) there is plenty of good walking for all levels of interest. It is possible to arrange to be accompanied by naturalist guide.
Climbing :
Within 1 Km of the hotel, there are 200 route to climb, with guides and equipment hire only 5 Km away.
A good climbing site to visit is promo-grimpe
Caving : The Vercor is a paradise for caves and pot holes many easily accessible to the amateur. It is possible to hire equipment and a cave guide monitors diplomes to accompany you.
Base Jump :
The cliffs of Presles, just behind the hotel, permit the sport of jumping and then parachuting down the cliffs. This is a specialist sport, dramatic to watch but amateurs are advised to abstain.

Cycling :
Hire of cycles and mountain bikes is possible 5 Km from the hotel, with maps for the region. Routes marked VTT.
